Dennis Schroder scores 33 points, the Nets beat the turnover-heavy Grizzlies 119-106

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Dennis Schroder had 33 points and eight assists, Cam Thomas added 19 points and the Brooklyn Nets beat the Memphis Grizzlies 119-106 on Wednesday night.

Ziaire Williams, who began his NBA career with Memphis before an offseason trade, had 17 points.

Jaren Jackson Jr. led Memphis with 30 points, connecting on 10 of 12 shots, including all three of his 3-pointers. Ja Morant had 14 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds, but was 5 of 16 from the field and made just one of his six shots from beyond the arc.

Rookie Zach Edey and Brandon Clarke each finished the game with 13 points, with Clarke making all five of his shots. The Grizzlies had 22 turnovers.

Nets: Schroder made a big difference by scoring in crucial moments when Memphis was on the verge of breaking through.

Grizzlies: Memphis had a bad time with tunovers throughout the game, which hurt the Grizzlies as they tried to push the tempo this season.

It didn't affect the result, but there was a strange play in the second quarter. With about 11:40 minutes left in the quarter, Morant launched a breakaway. As the crowd rose to its feet to get the best look at the potential highlight, the high-flying guard did a reverse dunk. But the ball bounced off Morant's head and out of the basket as the rim rebounded.

Both teams shot at least 50% for most of the game, and Memphis had a 58-46 points advantage. But Brooklyn forced 22 turnovers that led to 31 points. Brooklyn forced 15 turnovers in the first half, the most turnovers forced by the Nets since 16 on March 31, 2022.

Brooklyn, us at the Chicago Bulls on Friday night. Memphis ends a four-game homestand against Milwaukee on Thursday night.
