Jacksonville State vs. Liberty Prediction, Odds and Tips

The Liberty Flames saw their playoff aspirations go up in flames last week at Kennesaw State. Liberty was a 27-point favorite against Kennesaw State, but lost 27-24 to the previously winless Owls in one of the most stunning upsets of the season. Liberty fell to 1-5 against the spread (ATS) with the loss, its only cover being a 35-24 win over East Carolina on Sept. 21. The Flames' defense has been poor this season, allowing 24 or more points in five of six games. It all came to a head last week, allowing a winless team to score a season-high 27 points. The Flames are allowing a total of 319.7 yards per game and 205.7 passing yards per contest while putting up 22.2 ppg.

Head coach Rich Rodriguez's Jacksonville State Gamecocks have no such problems on offense. The Gamecocks have scored 42 or more points in every contest during their four-game winning streak, covering all games. They are allowing just 16.0 ppg in that span, putting them just two wins away from bowl eligibility. Liberty won last season's game in Jacksonville 31-13 and is a 7-point favorite. However, Liberty was playing much better football at this point. It's hard for me to put last week's sad defeat out of my mind. I support the more reliable Jacksonville State, which plays with much more offensive confidence.
