How Temirov will perform in the UFC

It's always exciting when the UFC brings in young talent in the flyweight division. It's even more exciting when it's a 17-2 flyweight. Temirov also comes from RIZIN, a promotion that has given us top quality guys. Ramazonbek Temirov never became champion there, but took a 2-0 lead.

His success has various reasons, but I would like to say that it is thanks to his strength and defense. Basically, everything Temirov throws is far. The only thing he throws down the middle is this spinning kick to the body. He loves the overhand, especially with his right hand. Temirov often lets whoever he fights set the pace. Temirov will use a lot of sideways movement to get his opponent to chase him around, increasing his energy. He puts guys under his control and can do that for three rounds. Temirov throws those overhand punches and also throws thunderous leg kicks and hooks to the body.

Defensively he is difficult to catch. A lot of evasive maneuvers and a good gas tank make it difficult for the boys to track him down. Where you want to put it is against the cage. In space, he has solid takedown defense as his spread is excellent. Now his cage wrestling isn't as good anymore and he's already been defeated there once. With the strike he throws these looping punches, so a jab and straight punches would cause a lot of problems for Temirov. Temirov isn't a mass guy, as he wins fights by being more durable, landing the knockout blow, or having the bigger moments.

At 125, at the higher level, Temirov will be competing against guys who are fast and fast-paced and won't slow down. If guys could just avoid the power and stay away from the exchanges in the pocket, I think Temirov would have trouble finding his rhythm. Temirov is absolutely a UFC-level fighter and brings a lot of excitement to the division. He's the guy you'd expect to be at the top of the league, but with his skillset he can go even further.

How he harmonizes with CJ Vergara

In the UFC, Vergara has won against strikers and lost against opponents who are primarily grapplers. So he gets a favorable style combination. Temirov doesn't wrestle, so I expect an impressive affair. Vergara is the cleaner striker. He throws a good jab and more up the middle. The only thing is that he doesn't string his shots together as he relies more on punches and movement and is more selective about what he throws.

That won't be enough against Temirov, because if you take him punch by punch, he'll land the most effective punches. When Vergara picks up his pace, he has the style to pick Temirov apart. I view this fight as a pick 'em fight and it depends on how Vergara fights. I expect him to fight the way he normally fights. I expect it to be close, but Temirov will win the moments. What he lands will look and be heavier than what Vergara lands. I have Temirov by decision in this fight.
